Fantastic interview with David Fincher, Tim Miller of Blur, and Neil Kellerhouse about The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’s opening titles. Extra-fascinating for me how all three have very different points of view and backgrounds informing their approaches to this project.
Fincher has a way with words (but usually gets a bit cutesy and overwrought, at least in the interviews of him I’ve read/seen); this quote about the creative process really struck me because I’ve seen it so many times in my field of work:

I always feel that the best things come out of having just enough time to get into some serious trouble and not enough time to navel-gaze endlessly about something.

Realigning My Thoughts on Jasper Johns. — JK Keller (2011)

Blur and David Fincher’s opening credits for The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. SO. RAD.

This is the coolest thing you’ll see today. Paths of Hate by Damian Nenow.

UPDATE: Looks like the file was literally pulled down a minute after I watched it and posted this. You can peep the trailer here, but it doesn’t do the entire piece justice.

Exceptionally well done and not typical skiing video.

One of the best commercials I’ve ever seen. The two spots Versus did for 2010 were great as well. John Doman V.O. (Rawls from The Wire) + Explosions in the Sky = Epic.

Amon Tobin - Calculate.

The Backwater Gospel. Super-dark and super-stylish Wild West animation short.

Timelapse of The City.

Wait for the thunderstorms. Epic.
